Projects Beyond NY
Our efforts to help creatives bring their visions to life go beyond NYC. We have supported projects in Haiti, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Denver, and more.

Volunteer
Over the past decade, volunteers have helped us build our organization. We’re now seeking volunteers with expertise in grant writing, fundraising, accounting, and non-profit filing.

Beyond NYC
These are some of the organizations we have partnered with over the last 10 years: Capoeira Luanda Denver, Asé Bahia, Capoeira Bali, Puerto Rico YMCA Parkinson’s Group Etc.What our Students and Collaborators have to say!
“… truly it was a blessing to share with you. The Parkinson’s group was delighted with the Capoeira demo. The Parkinson’s group and the basketball boys were delighted. In fact many approached me to find out when you were coming back, so you know you have a new destination and new friendships to visit when you return to Puerto Rico. It was a pleasure to be able to open the doors of the San Juan YMCA to have you all with both programs. I thank you a thousand times for everything you did, a big hug.”

“Thank you so much for offering a wonderful martial art program like Capoeira to my son and daughter. They were able to learn the basics of this Brazilian art and culture. Which involves different acrobatics and skills in a form of dance and martial arts mixed together to a rhythm of drums and chants. They had a wonderful experience throughout this well thought out course. Most of all they learn to sing songs in the Brazilian native language. Sincerely Yours, Leonard Liao”

“As a NYC dance teacher, it is always a goal of mine to expose my students to all forms of art and culture. A Capoeira lecture demonstration was at the top of my list of cultural vendors I needed to bring to my school. The demo exceeded my expectations and brought immense joy to the students and staff. Those in the audience contributed to this energy with song, spoken word, and rhythmic patterns. Michelle was able to have many students (and our principal) come on the auditorium stage to try out some of the moves. Those unable to participate onstage contributed from their seats with song, spoken word, and rhythmic patterns. Overall, it was a great show, and I would consider inviting the Capoeira Center of New York back to our school.”
